Tofu Onigirazu

This highlighted recipe is Tofu Onigirazu. Tofu Onigirazu is a Japanese dish,  is so fun to make, and can be called a sushi sandwich or a sushi burrito. This recipe is so exciting because you can make it as colorful as you want!

First, pick your favorite toppings, including carrots, lettuce, avocado, red cabbage, and cucumber, to combine with the tofu and Japanese sticky rice. Then, chop up your veggies and herbs, and begin assembling your Tofu Onigirazu.

Tofu onigirazu can also be served with peanut (or alternative) sauce to give it more flavor. An easy sauce can be only assembled by two ingredients; soy sauce and sunflower / peanut butter. Please note: we do not use any nut ingredients in our classes, so we always opt for sunflower butter.

Easy complete homemade sauce:

  • ½ cup of peanut butter (or sunflower butter)
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 1 tbsp lime juice
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 1 tsp sriracha sauce – for spice (optional)
  • 3-6 tbsp warm water
